Do you love to read? Are you passionate about botany, natural history, sustainability and similar topics? Then, you’ll love the BRIT Reads Book Club! This informal group meets every other month to discuss a chosen book, in-person and virtually. We begin with a moderator summarizing the book and reviewing its key points. Then there is an opportunity for discussion—all are encouraged to share their perspectives and thoughts. You will leave with new information, new perspectives and new connections to others with shared interests. Don’t have time to read the book? No worries! Join us to hear the review and jump in on the discussion!
Registration is recommended but not required for this program. Pre-registered participants will receive an email reminder with directions and the zoom link the Friday before the session.
In August, join us to discuss Daniel Stone’s The Food Explorer: The True Adventures of the Globe-Trotting Botanist Who Transformed What America Eats. In the 19th century, American meals were about subsistence, not enjoyment. But as a new century approached, appetites broadened, and a young botanist with an insatiable lust to explore and experience the world set out in search of foods that would enrich the American farmer and enchant the American eater.
Please note that this month's Book Club will be held on the fourth Monday!
