Botany – Monday, June 30, 2025 at 1:00 – 3:30 PM
This immersive tour gives FFA students a unique opportunity to explore the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT). Designed to enhance their knowledge of plant sciences, conservation, and agricultural innovation, the experience offers valuable insight into botanical research and its practical applications in agriculture and sustainability. Students will hear from our staff about their career journeys and daily work, gaining firsthand perspectives on the diverse opportunities in plant science.
By the end of the tour, students will develop a deeper appreciation for the connection between botany and agriculture, sparking inspiration for future careers in plant science and conservation.

Details: Students will tour our herbarium, library, molecular and structural labs, and meet members of the living collections team. Along the way, they’ll hear from researchers about their career paths and what their day-to-day work involves. As a special takeaway, students will have the opportunity to mount a plant specimen in our herbarium, frame it, and take it home as a keepsake!
